I am trying to organize few sound art concert here. Sound art or experimental music or electro-acoustic, experimental film, video art... like that. More I watch and listen, I don't understand what is all these. I might have even enjoyed more when I didn't know all these and went for concert as just concert. When I first heard this type of music, I heard some expression which I loved. It kept my attention to each sound more than constructed music. The tember and intention of the sound was everything.
I started to get confused with the idea of sound art when I started to hear it from 'sound artist' who has more friends with visual artist than musicians. There is a wall between this artist and musician that doing thing under same category.
It got me even more confused when those sound artist start to play the chords and melody. I cannot play with them anymore because I have to retune my instrument. There was the right note and wrong note in this drone chords.
It got me more confused when I heard a dance track with sequenced rythm, melody, the song that was structured like a trance music using sound art materials. It was a dance music with less ordinary instruments.
It got me most confused when this dance track was most supported among the sound artist.
This is why I want to give up knowing what is sound art.
And giving up made me curious about what is sound art.
